Recycling Plastic Pots

What Do I Do With Plastic Nursery Planter Pots?

Did you know depending on where you live you can't throw plastic planter pots into the recycling? Most recycling services do not accept plastic planter pots. The exception being the City of Seattle which will allow clean plastic planter pots to be recycled in regular curbside recycling.

If you do not live in a Seattle, you may be wondering what your options are. One option is to find a local garden center and see if they have a plastic pot take back program.

Some local retailers that take plastic pots are:

  • Molbac's
  • Flower World
  • Boxhill Farms
  • West Seattle Nursery
  • Vashon Recycling & Transfer Station
  • Third & Lander Recycling & Transfer Station

Make sure to contact these locations ahead of time to see if they are still accepting pots and what their size limitations are.
