Hello! I’m Sam, a dedicated Certified Professional Horticulturist and ISA Arborist with over a decade of experience in cultivating sustainable landscapes and enhancing wildlife habitats. My journey in horticulture began with a profound love for nature as a child. I have a desire to create beautiful spaces that not only thrive but also support the diverse ecosystems around us.
Throughout my career, I have built my skills in plant management and habitat restoration specializing in both native and ornamentals that promote biodiversity. I have a Masters degree in Natural Resources and B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Science. I am passionate about educating others on the importance of plants in the Pacific Northwest region.
In addition to my professional endeavors, I manage a hobby farm where I apply my knowledge of horticulture and passion for the environment. This farm allows me to experiment with various gardening techniques, grow a wide range trial plants and create a micro-scale wildlife habitat that attracts birds, pollinators, and wildlife. It is always rewarding to see the flora benefit the fauna.
Flora for Fauna NW is a micro-scale native plant nursery and habitat design consulting company based out of Snohomish Washington. We focus on using local plants to create or improve habitats for local wildlife.
I believe that a connection between people and nature is critical to the success of our environment. Therefore, I strive to promote environmentally responsible practices within my community. I am available for consultations for plannning and development of wildlife habitats. I believe wildlife habitats should be commonplace and accessible at all cost levels. I take pride in being an advocate for ecological stewardship and am continually seeking innovative ways to bring habitat spaces to everyone, rural and urban.
With every project I undertake, my goal is to leave a positive impact, both aesthetically and environmentally. I remain committed to lifelong learning in the field of horticulture and natural resource management. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion with others.
